I thought it was about time to post another gratuitous knockout collection. Enjoy.
Careful kids. Lyrics may be offensive to some. |

This one's for us old school fans, Uke:
For those who think Winky Wright is the sport's best ever defensive boxer - check out Sweet Pea's magic. My coach used to have a phrase for fighters like this: You can't hit him with a bowl full of rice!

Those clips were the shit, Mike Brewer. Seriously. That old school clip wasn't just excellent because of the fights either. The background music really got you into the spirit of the intensity of the clips.
As far as the Sweet Pea clip, his defense and Mayweather's defense are different IMO. In practice, Mayweather practices what Sweet Pea did in the ring. The head movement and the way Sweet Pea could move his waist and duck just at the right moment even in close was unreal. Floyd isn't doing that most of the time. Floyd has more of a James Toney defense. He uses the shoulder roll and he smothers punches as he gets his own offense off. He's fast, but he is moving out of the way of punches the way the Sweet Pea could. Mayweather just let's you land enough to think your getting to him and he baits you in that way. Both are defensive geniuses. Winky Wright's peek-a-boo style is defensive, but I don't see genius in what he does. I see toughness and resilience with a plan. There's nothing really crafty about what Wright does, although it is frustrating. He makes it work for him. Great boxer though. Really great clips.

When I got to your second paragraph, I thought, "Damn. Uke has Floyd Mayweather on the brain!! I said 'Winky Wright,' not Floyd Mayweather!" Then I got to the part where you voiced the same opinion of Winky that I have, and I felt like a heel.
It made me laugh out loud. ![]() I liked the old school clip, except for the promo shots of Oscar and Felix at the end... I'm glad you enjoyed them. I wanted to post more, but figured I'd leave some room for our members to contribute. Hint Hint. |
