Sadly, I was on a plane and missed the fight! Anyone want to give me some commentary? What happened?

Taylor dropped Pavilik in the second round and almost finished him off. Then Pavilik sucked it up and knocked out Tayor in the seventh round. You can read more on www.boxingnews.com

Round 1- Pavlik was backing up Taylor with jabs and right straights, basically fighting his fight. Taylor was countering and taking the shots pretty well.

Round 2- Taylor flurries and catches Pavlik, knocking him down. Pavlik gets up obviously still dazed but manages to survive 1:30. Honestly, I was surprised that he even made it passed the next 15 seconds but the kids got heart.

Round 3- Round was very close but I gave it to Pavlik based on aggression.

Round 4- Taylor countering well off of the ropes. Gave the round to Taylor.

Round 5-6- Trading great shots again very close. I still gave the rounds to Pavlik based on aggression

Round 7- If you saw the Miranda fight, it was basically the same type of finish. Pavlik caught him with a right straight staggering Taylor into the corner. Pavlik smelled blood and went in and finished with a great inside right uppercut followed by left hooks. Referee covered up Taylor and stopped the fight.

Criticisms: All 3 judges had Taylor ahead on the cards. Not sure what fight they were watching. CompuBox showed the fight very close but I found Pavlik blocking most of Taylor's shots. With the exception of the knockdown, Pavlik was the aggressor the majority of the fight.

I could see people saying that the ref didn't give Taylor a chance to get up since he covered him up and waved off the fight. If you saw the fight he was taking a lot of punishment. Plus, when he hit the ropes he wasn't even punching backing.

Pavik looked great to me. As much as he had Taylor on the ropes, he should've went to the body more and set up his head shots instead of head hunting so much. He usually does but he finally started to go to the body in the 7th round.

Great fight!!!

Thanks Fozzy. Great blow-by-blow. The rematch ought to be good!

I thought about that too but since neither Manny Stewart or Taylor complained about the stoppage it wasn't an issue. In Jermaine's Post fight interview he was classy and did not make any excuses. He took his beating like a man and stated he want's Kelly for his very next fight.
