Poor Boxing Match.

Joe never found his range, Hopkins was very strong and fought a smart fight, I thought Joe was too arrogant. Although Hopkins tried all his tricks, I thought he was technically the far better boxer.

I fully expected the US judges to go with Hopkins, and credit to them that they followed the letter of the law, professional boxing is judged on forward agression. That said, I personally would have had no complaints if Hopkins had got the decision.

Unconvincing, but a win none the less.

Joe Cortez should have at least deducted a point for one low blow but it may not have mattered anyway.

That's Hopkins' trademark. Making everyone he fights look uninteresting. He's really good at making good fighters look awkward and clumsy. Good to see Joe keep the streak alive, though.

What sort of things did Hopkins do to keed Joe at bay throughout the fight?

And overall, how does he make people look so bad? Is it all about getting in someone's head? Countering like some kind of android?

This fight was lame. Like most boxing fights. They should really start thinking about using 8 OZ gloves from now on.

Triangle, you're a dry roasted, lightly salted idiot. No disrespect intended, of course.

That fight may have been boring, but anyone who's ever seen Hopkins expected that. Hopkins' whole fight strategy is built upon being awkward, tough to hit, elusive, and at times, dirty. He has made every single opponent he's ever fought look like they were having an off-night, and no one has ever been able to really catch him cleanly. He's painfully economical in his punches (meaning he's not busy), and he's frustrating as hell to box. Why you would expect to see fireworks and brawling from someone like that is beyond me.

Boxing on the whole is anything but dull, though. The knockouts and action in fights like Marquez/Vasquez' trilogy put any MMA matches I've ever seen to shame. And they have to fight through a whole lot more pain and damage than any MMA ref would ever allow. When MMA guys start throwing 800 punches a fight, landing 300 or more, and showing the chin and balls to finish standing? Then you can talk your smack.

(I hope you realize I'm just being a dick here. I'm not taking you seriously, and I'm only talking smack for entertainment's sake)
