Default Who's your favorite boxer, and why?

Who's your fav and why? I have a few favorites.
Mickey Ward - I have always been a fan of his, and his last few fights have merely solidified that. Show me a guy with more heart and a better body punch.

Oscar Delahoya - What can I say, the guy has talent. Sure he has some losses, but the guy is a smart boxer, which is why I like him.

Evander Holyfield - Ya ya I know he's over the hill, but he is a prime showcase of a complete boxer. Although he doesn't excel in any one area ( i think anyway) he is a very well rounded fighter who has always put out phenomanal effort even when the cards were against him.

I gotta run to work, so that's all I got for now. Lemme here your fav's and maybe some bashing of mine lol.

Default My Favs are..

You got a pretty tight list there- and you're bold for picking Hoya because he's not liked by many. Personally I think he's OK... he's definetly a future legend though. OK, my favorites would be somethin' like:

Floyd Mayweather Jr.- This cat is tight and being only 25 yrs. old he the most technically proficient fighter today (excluding Roy Jones Jr. of course.) He has a rematch with Castillo coming up after his first controversial decision though. So far he's "undefeated" and one of my favorites.

Zab Judah- This guy gets krunk krunk krunk. People have described him as Pernell Whitaker with a punch. He recently got knocked out in two rounds by Kostya Tszyu... but watch that controversial fight and give your own opinion. Zab is fast and likes to lighten things up with playful defensive skills.

Bernard Hopkins- I don't like him that much now because he seems to be avoiding a fight with Roy Jones, but acting like its Roy that won't make the fight. But he is the Undisputed Middleweight Champion and knocked out Tito Trinidad! This coming from a guy who's "old" in boxing years and really doesn't have any specific skill that stands out. I'm also fascinated about how he totally rearranged his fighting style from the unusual slugger he was in his earlier years- to an excellent boxer. Just my thoughts...

Ya I know my list was tight, but like i said I had to run to work. Right now I just got home and am going to bed! Alot of people don't like Delahoya, but what can ya say? He posesses a lot of skill as a fighter. I have to agree that all the guys on your list are definitly some of the top guys out there. I'll add a few more to this:
Vernon Forrest - what can ya say? The guy rocked Mosley. I couldn't believe it when I watched that and mosley was almost gone from the start.
Lewis - I don't really like him, but he rules the heavyweights. Great behind the jab.
Jones jr - The guy is amazing, but has no one to fight.

K i am goin to bed.
oh ya, surprised i didn't get hacked for holyfield lol

My list

Oscar De la Hoya- Just a great fighter! He takes big risks during fights, and that's something you really dont see anymore. Although im not to fond of Mayweather sr. as his trainer...dont get me wrong mayweather's a good trainer, but he's not right for Oscar. Mayweather's thing is defense, but it seems Hoya gets hit more than he should now. His best defense has always been his offense, but that's just my opinion.

Bernard Hopkins- Another great fighter, good tactiction probably one of the best of all time. Hopkins adapt's very well and is up for anything that happnes

Aurtio Gatti- HEART! With a good punch too. Very exiting fighter! Cant wait for the rematch with Ward in november.

Well, that's all's i can thinks of now

still no hacks for holyfield lol

there are so many guys who could go on these lists. let's try a new angle here.

who's best pound for pound?

My call right now would have to go to Hopkins.
I'd say jones, but with the lack of good opponents, i don't like to give it to him, but i dont doubt he could be.

Pound for pound....id have to say either Hopkins or De la Hoya.

Jones has fights out there...he just doesnt take em'.
After Hopkins beat Trinidad, Jones was sposed to fight Hopkins but Jones turned it down, because he didnt want hopkins to make alot of money off of him.

Jones has all talent but he wastes it by not taking chances

Default P4P

Holyfield is a legend! His age just has him on his way out-- but I still watch his fights with interest because , like he showed with Rahman, he can still put up an entertaining fight. I just hope he doesn't stay in the game too long..

Its kinda scary to see a star fall out the sky the way Mosley degenerated in front of millions on live TV by not being able to handle Forrest in the rematch. I still definetly think he got skills.. but people we thought he'd easily beat... well..

P4P right now is definetly Jones... no matter who he's facing. He toys with fighters in his division. He'd press his luck by moving up to heavyweight though.

Some of my favorite fighters from the past are:

Leonard- If anyone hasn't seen this guy (Sugar Ray Leonard) fight.. they gotta get a tape!!!! His handspeed was crippling! One of the Greatest Of All Time.

Pernell Whitaker- Get his fight with Oscar De La Hoya and imagine what he was like in his prime. His defensive skills were great.

Wilfredo Benitez- Another guy who could stand directly infront of you and make you miss with subtle head movements and twists of the upper body. The called him The Radar.

LoL-- My post is too long.. lemme jet. Peace

Mike tyson (1980's)
Devastating knockout power in both hands.
Didn't get hit with power shots very often because of his great head and body movement.
Hit with "bad intentions"
Unbelievable speed.
Killer instinct.

Felix Trinidad
great power, incredible left hook
his courage and heart
his dominance and willingness to take on top contenders

That guy, what's his name. Damn, I forget, anyway.
Mike tyson is truly powerful and devestating, but he needs to get his rage under control.
Ali was awesom, I've seen some old tapes of him, but he wasn't exactly a family man.
Sugar Ray Leanard, heard a lot about him, he was before my time, and haven't seen any videos.

Chris Byrd The guy just never gets hit. Unbelievable movement.
Incredible ability to evade.

Dela Hoya,

Early Tyson

And the guy who punch somebody in the forehead and the guy dropped and just shook and later had brain damage. But I forget the fighters name. But that is power.

I've seen some nice power in the amateur ranks, but I can't name any ones right now. There this guy who has a thai, or middle eastern back ground or something. I've seen about two of his fights, and I was impressed.
