Guys,
I need some pointers on boxing... Here are some things I need to work on. Please offer some advice where applicable. SLIPPING I have a hard time slipping inside my opponent's left jab and throwing a punch. Should I move my feet during the slip? What's a good way to slip inside and what's a good combo once inside? IN-FIGHTING On that same note, I have a hard time getting inside. Double jabs have worked well, but I tend to overuse that strategy... Any advice? Any advice about strictly boxing is appreciated... Thanks ahead of time.

Work on your timing. Have your coach or a partner throw jabs at you and practice slipping inside and out.
As you slip inside: Simultaneously throw a right cross at his exposed left rib, left uppercut to either the chest or jaw and then get back into jabbing range. Simultaneously throw an overhand right at his cheek (unless he doesn't tuck his chin, go for the jaw line). Then L upper cut, R cross. Slip outside: R uppercut under his guard and into his chin to pop his head up, then left hook immediately as his head pops up.

Your feet should move as you slip. Assuming you are orthodox (r handed) to slip inside, slide your left foot in and slightly to the left of his l jab, transfer weight to that leg and bend slightly at the waist - the end result is that the jab barely misses your head and you are inside. Keep your hands up bc he might L hook off the jab or throw a R uppercut (I once got caught w a R uppercut - remember your mouth guard, you will get hit while sparring)
Think about your position. With your L leg bent, holding most of your weight and your upper body slightly crouched to the left, what punches could you throw? Well, you use this position to spring up and into your opponent with any of the following: L shovel hook to the obliques, left hook to the body, L uppercut to the body or chin. You don't want to nail your sparring partner; just let him know you're there. Save your power for the focus mitts/heavy bag.
