Default Pro-Boxer enters MMA!!!!

From a boxing magazine online, Shannon Briggs a heavyweight pro-boxer wants match up with Tyson and has been cross training in jiu-jitsu and muay thai to enter UFC!!

Should this fight happen, Briggs now has a full arsenal to counter Tyson should the cannibalistic heavyweight attempt to bite any part of his body. For eight months Briggs has been training with his promotional partner, American Top Team, which is a group of national mixed martial artists who compete in different competitions around the globe including the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Training in the different disciplines, including Jiu-Jitsu, has really helped Briggs' conditioning and overall skills, but he says it's a totally different game from boxing.

"It's like being a fish out of water," Briggs said. "It's totally different being on the ground and having to guard against attacks. It really has helped my conditioning and has helped me become an all around fighter. Fighting in mixed martial arts is like fighting an octopus. You have to defend take downs and kicks. In boxing all I have to do is defend punches. It's helped my instincts in the ring."

This training isn't just for hobby, or to help Briggs train for his boxing future. The boxer is planning on fighting in the sport of mixed martial arts, and he is currently negotiating with the UFC to possibly fight on a card in June.

"It's going to be difficult adapting to the game if they take me down, but on the stand-up no one can compete with me. I'll knock them out."

Brigg's forte is boxing. He will be like Mo Smith; very strong stand-up with some basic ground work. If he works his take down defenses and makes the other guys stand up, they will get KO'd.

I'd love to see better talented boxers enter these competitions. However in reality it won't be that interesting I'm afraid because the boxer will be on the ground.

It would be cool to see him knock someone out though.
