its most likely to be your form. I used to have pains when doing power punching sprints on bags during training. My shoulder would be in pain for the next day or so. It just took time for my form to come along a bit more. Just take ur first few hits slowly and make sure your forms correct. Then start hitting harder etc. It sounds stupid but make sure ur wrist is straight when you connect when hooking. and u can hurt your wrist if your arm is too far out and your hand makes contact on an angle. Aim to land with the centre of the glove.

Ask your coach if he can take a look at ur form and check to see if it's fine.

Give it a bit more time. It may be that your just not used to the strain.

Yeah could be that you wrist needs to strengthen up. i found that when i first started throwing uppercuts onto focus mits my wrist hurt, that has ceased.

On another note; dont strap your wrist up. coz if you ever have to throw a punch without it, say on the street, then your wrist will be more prone to breaking. Apparently this happens to boxers.

Cheers

Wrap your wrist up!

The reason you wrap your wrist up during boxing is too prevent wrist injuries. Saying not too wrap because on the street you wont have wraps and when you pucn hyou will injure your wrist is like saying when you box dont use gloves so your knuckles are used to the damage when punching someone in the face full force.

I assume your not a street fighter wannabe who goes around trying to beat people up. Therefore you won't get into scraps all that often.

Punching someone in the face with bad form will injure your wrist whether or not you are used to not wearing wraps.

Boxers in fights injure their hands during street fights for many many reasons. Some to do with the bone running down the outside ridge of your hand (boxers break) which is because of the way your knuckles land. And some because punching a solid surface very hard (like a skull) isn't too good to do with knuckles.

Wrap your wrists. Theres no need to injure them during a bout or during sparring. If you find yourself in a street fight either use open palm, aim for jaw temple or neck, try not to use wild hooks too much. Very easy to **** your wrist when haymaking (especially when drunk or when its dark). Use straights. But then your not going to go round looking for trouble are you.
