![]() | First I d like to thank all you guys this forum has been a great help. I just started boxing 2 weeks and I m still learning the basics. Got a few problems however When I throw a left jab I hear a snap in my elbow. Is this supposed to be? Also I see at the very last moment my fist isn't in one place but always goes a little more to the right. After 300 punches of shadowboxing this starts to hurt on my biceps... any hints on this ? And I can't hang a heavybag from the ceiling(support isn't strong enough) Is there like a standalone or a pillar you can buy where you can hang it from? What's the size of the best heavybag for beginners.(I m very tall 1m94 I don't know what that is in inches) What heavybag gloves are the best for beginners? thx in advance |

![]() ![]() | There is a difference between extension and hyperextension. You want your arm to go straight but not locked. Is the popping painful? For the biceps, I suggest you add or increase your weight training. With your total body workout, be sure to add bicep and tricep exercises. Perhaps your tricep/bicep strength ratio is off. I think http://www.centuryma.com has a free standing heavybag stand. Tim |

![]() | my biceps are well developped because I did powertraining for 2 years till 3 months ago because it became too boring. I think the pain came from doing it a little too much the last couple of days... Thx for the bag information I've seen those bags a couple of times but they looked bad but if you say they work I ll buy one of those but can you give me more info about the hyperextention part ? Like how not to do it. thx man |

extension is just straighting out the arm try to practice alittle slow at first to get your form down, Its always best to have your form on point before you start going hard and fast, sloppy training leads to sloppy execution in competition. if youve only been boxing for 2 weeks dont worry so much about it, your body needs to adjust to this new stimulus and will eventually get used to it, no body got perfect over night. listen to tim, when you throw your punch dont lock out, also sometimes throw shorter punches, remember when you fight you will not always be landing fully extended punches, so take this into consideration when you hit the bag and shadow box.

![]() | Welcome to the sport. It sounds as though you may be shadowboxing with too much power on your punches. Try using a more relaxed style, and keep your hands open inside your gloves (shadowboxing only) what you are looking for is smoothness and speed, NOT power. Save the full blast punches for the heavy bag. Also, try shadowboxing with light handweights occasionally, a little slower at first. Lastly, don't neglect your upper body conditioning, which is a common mistake of new fighters. Good luck. |

![]() | its better to shadow box w/some small hand weights because it slows your punches down enogh so u can work on your form, and it ay stop the popping. when i started boxing there were pains everywhere but with slot of time and training your joints loosen up and get more muscular and youll find everything to be easier and ore powerful
