Default Pro-Boxer Shannon Briggs trains in muay thai!

Shannon Briggs announced that he will be fighting in K-1. He's been training in muay thai for the past 2 years and brings in his years of professional boxing experience (vs. Lennox Lewis, vs. George Foreman).

This continues the trend of boxers becoming thai boxers. Why? I think its the fans in Asia. They love kickboxing. It doesn't draw pro-boxing salary, but kickboxing to the Japanese and Thais are what NFL is to the US.

Its too bad that the US doesn't have a great kickboxing following.

True...True
I think we shall see a lot more boxers crossing over. I think that it is one of the best things that can happen for both sports.

Maybe the move is to make them seem like more legit fighters. I mean yes a lot of these boxers are more than capable of putting large holes into my head with their fists but now the trend is a move into extreme sports. K-1 and the UFC is a lot like the X-Games and will grow much bigger with time. Perhaps they are looking to cash in on some of the action.

Tyson is likely scheduled to fight Musashi in December?

Poor, poor Musashi. I think we're gonna see a different Mike Tyson. He's going to be throwing hard, fast kicks with his bombers.

I hope so, because I will always be a Tyson fan. I have, however, heard that Mike isn't training too hard these days. Some of my friends in Vegas claim to have seen him taking the limo to places like 7-11 and eating chips and junk food and stuff. They say he's looking a little "puffy". I can neither confirm nor deny, but I hope he takes K-1 seriously. If he does it'll be sick.

I think his focus is close to being lost for good.

Tyson was a hero to kids in the 80's. I remember buying Mike Tyson's punch out for the Nintendo. In it was a personally copied letter from Tyson talking about how anything is possible if you work hard enough at it. He was about 19 at the time and was the 8th wonder of the world. He fought Tony Tubbs in Japan and shortly after KOd Micheak Spinks (the Jones Jr of the 80's).

There was a Pepsi commercial about him. He was shown jogging at 6am.

Not the same Tyson.
