Greetings fellow practitioners of wu shu. I wanted to ask a question. I have learned ba gua zhang but throughout my path of learning, through deep meditation, I have seemed to have twisted the movements. My Sifu says that I have created a new form based on Ba Gua Zhang but is too unorthodox to call ba gua because no master of the art would recognize it. I feel honored to have been blessed with an opportunity to do such a thing as my Sifu says but I wanted to get other practitioner's opinions.

ok,
please bear in mind that if we take the Yin fu system - there are many many very different forms - straight line forms, circle forms, palm changes, mother palms etc. there are different feelings to use in the forms, dragon body etc, their are fundimental skills, piercing, listening etc. There are different feelings of strength, mountain, wind, water - etc etc! Following the basic principles of ba gua you have many, many different principles of movement. Movement and twsting of the waist - not the hips, use of the Kwa, release of tendon energy - etc etc. These are deep deep concepts - in order to master ba gua you need to practice for many many years. Changing a form to put more twist into it does not constitute a NEW ba gua branch. In yin fu their is a form directly for twisting the body. I am guessing you do the Performance Wu Shu? If you have created a new competetive Wu Shu form then fair play - if you are claiming to have created a BRAND NEW version of Ba gua - then god help you if you every cross hands with a real lineage holder! cheers Chris
