Default Chi Kung - Standing Meditation

Has anyone experienced intense heat in the hands whilst performing standing meditation ?.

What this involves is standing upright, shoulders relaxed, palms pointed in towards the chest. Legs slightly bent and visualizing breathing through the hands. Only once I experienced this intense heat in my hands. This was before any physical training. Since that time I have never been able to reproduce this same experience.

actually the way i do it is plams open and down. but if that way works for you then go for it. there is a set way, and after you learn that then your instructor should tell you to try different positions and see how things turn out. and ya i know what your talking about. happens all the time. no biggie

The are many ways of doing Zhuang Zhong (sp) or standing post work.

The way your describe sounds like the classical 'holding tree' posture - the most common of these methods.

The sensations you feel when doing this can be attributed to many things. Increased circulation etc.

I do these excersises daily and often get the feeling of lines of ants crawling along the skin in different areas.

These methods are fundimental to internal systems so keep em up n you will generate lots of power!

I don't like the sound of that. Unless you have particularly attractive aunts.

I love that feeling

I get the tingling feeling also and I'm usually pretty good about moving it up into my arms and shoulders, but once it gets to my shoulders it stops (thats where I carry 90% of my tension ).

The most successful way for me to relax my entire body and circulate everything is lying down meditation with my arms out, palms up and feet apart. Then just focusing on relaxing every muscle in my body (sometimes I fall asleep though LoL).
