Default Why do some people lie about styles ?

Guys,

I have been conned into believing. That Praying Mantis style was some deadly kungfu style that has been banned in different countries. This idiot teacher told me how he paralysed a guy in a pub and threw him over.

Can there be any truth in this ?. I am sure its bullshit its a deadly style ?. I spent over a 2000 pounds on private lessons and then find i cant defeat a kid.

Praying Mantis KungFu is a good art too but i rather choose Southern Eagle Claw instead of All Praying Mantis KungFu versions.......

cause Southern Eagle Claw - there's every blood in each of its claw strikes.......

Couple possibilities:

1) He is a fake.
2) He is a genuine teacher and really wants to teach you. However, your training is not mature enough.
3) He is a genuine master in the art yet he is interested only in ripping your money off and he doesn't care if you understand nothing.

It is not for me to judge, you decide.

Please give me the fact behind Praying Mantis style.

Did they try and ban it ?

Is is as deadly as they say it is ? sounds ludicrous to me.

Never heard of it being banned but as for being deadly doesn't say much. It's not uncommon for people to be killed in fights. Usually happens when they hit a concrete floor or other hard surface.

pray mantis is a nice style, but definitely not banned. they teach it like at every kung fu school. but it takes like so long and a lot and a lot of practice to use it well. i mean it doesnt matter if u know how to do the moves. u cant use it unless u have that extreme waist power. well basically if ur not a master at it, dun use it. Your teacher probably isnt cheating u. its just that u havent practice enough. like my sifu, who is ranked like top fifty martial artist a couple years ago, took like ten years or something like that to become that good. it was basically her career too so she practice a crap load. so dun blame ur instructor, cuz hes probably legit

I don't lie about the martial arts that I train in. I don't always volunteer all of the information about it either. Besides, for me its just a hobby to stay fit and build good friendships with good folks.

I probably hit with the same speed, power and timing of your grandma any ways...

Theonly truth behind banning this style is when they banned all martial arts in China around the qing dynasty I believe. before that time the Qing believed letting martial arts be aloud would aid in a possible rebellion from the Han. Anways, It was not banned other then that no my knowledge. Really, though, all styles take time to become good at. how much time before you "tried it out?" Consider conditioning yourself more, and giving the style more time so you can understand and get better. The style itself is a good with time, but usually it is considerred a very dedicated style to take (must dedicate much to become good with it) . Then again, any style is good if you dedicate yourself to it.
Pardon my wording if it is not good>.<

Your teacher sounds suspicious. He should not give you half truths or dress the style up in the way that he has.

Most styles are deadly. A good wing chun strike to the throat will drop a guy. I good Muay Thai knee/elbow will drop a guy. A good karate punch will drop a guy.

Praying Mantis is no different. There are strikes and movements which can end a persons life. But so could a 12 year old kid sticking his finger through someone's eye!!

Praying Mantis is explosive and fast. They have not banned it, there is no reason to - there are styles out there that work in a similar way.
