It all depends on the training. Realism is important. Which ever one you choose make sure it includes full contact sparring or full contact grappling. Good luck.

I think Chinese Martial Arts is so broad it's hard to pinpoint which is the best. Every style has it's advantages and disadvantages. That's what I've learned from my sifu. I've trained with a Shaolin Monk in Houston for the past 4-5yrs. He told me in the beginning there were all sorts of styles and the monks just happened to take the best from each type of style at that point and incorporate it into one. Therein lies the roots of the Five animals of shaolin. Now am i saying that Shaolin is the best kung fu style? No i'm not. That answer lies in the person training and the person teaching. Now in modern times you might not get the same type of training they did in the past since we're not trying to avenge the death of our families or going up against dynasties. Most kung fu schools as well as my former have been training for a shot in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing by training Wushu....Ick!!!...(Sorry sifu!!!). So to me I would have to say that the answer is up to you. Only you can make the style effective and the best. Sorry for the long post!!!

Wing Chun is from the taoist sector, you will know if you look at it's philosophy. The fact that it was in the shaolin temple doesnt mean its a shaolin style, just like if I was in your house doesnt mean that I live in it.
most short bridge fist kung fu are taoistas using attack and defence at the same time is a basic virtue.JKD is also taoist, bruce is a taoist and using lao tzu's philosophy in it. To be realistic about it, there are 3 types of kung fu, sil lum, tao and hakka. Sil lum- lohan, hunga, most straight animal sets, any fut gar, tao- taichi, hsing I, pa kwa, bak mei, wing chun hakka- various long fist, hop gar, various tong long, various dragons, family fists
