Hi
What are people's views on what to do if a burglar comes into your home while your in the house especially if its early morning and your asleep - because this is exactly what happened to me and i ddint have a clue about what to do so i just pretended to stay asleep while the ****er ****er stole my laptop, mobile phone and some other things from my bedroom. Police say i made the right decision to just play dead if you like. What are your views on this. Little.D ![]()

I keep zip ties and duct tape handy so I can restrain a burglar. Of course I don't intend to fight him, just kill him if he fails to comply. I have a laser sighted pistol near my bed. Just in case! Also train with knives (karambits)and have a few of those around too in case he finds my gun(s) before I wake up. That's a scarry thought! I feel for you, it must have been terrifying! The whole problem with deadly force issues then becomes a matter for a Jury. And that might be worse than letting him take your things... ![]()

Adn like someone else said, the if u in fact were able to beat the carp outta the guy and he somehow died, u would be at the mercy of a jury that could very well find u guilty of excessive force or what not. I've heard fucked up stories like this for example; E.G. a guy tried to get into a women's house by climbing up to the roof of her house and going through a window. WHile on the roof he falls thorugh into the house and breaks his legs, back etc... Well, the jury found the women guilty of not housing a safe environment or something dumb like that. What ever happened to the u get what u deserve theory? |

Well the intruder used a screwdriver to bust open the back door, then drugged my dog (whos harmless anyways he only a westie bless him), then took some things from the kitchen, went all through the house downstairs, inc my bedroom at the time.
(note i now sleep upstairs with plenty of things to look frightening lol i have a stack of samurai swords and other weapons on my wall for decor - but if a burglar decides to go into my room again i think thex will see this and think to make a hasty exit lol.) THEN they went down to the stable yard broke the lock off the door and stole NOTHING O_O they obviously wern't smart enough to realise the sheer pricing of horse tack lol it was prob the most expensive thing they could have stolen d-heads. They also went through both my parents cars and stole stuff but they couldnt steal the cars as we have electric gates - they even used our own wheel barrow to wheel the stuff from the house to the sandschool where they then proceeded to climb over the fence to their get away vehicle. Was a valuable lesson learned valuables are nothing when it comes down to your life at stake over them so that is why i chose to not intervene lol sure if the guy had tried anything with me he wouldnt have been walking out of the house lmao. I actually don't know what I would do? Using Attack may get you killed.
Attack being the foundation of thought: good thinking Little Demon. Scary; even the thought of it. Happened to my Mom once...Luckily the intruder just ran off when he saw her. I suppose all you can do is get a dog or two and Lock up. So you didn't have an alarm then? You may aswell get an alarm and put those sticker's up warning potential intuder's. Do you talk to your neighbour's much about neighbourhood stuff?!

I think it'd be nice to have one of those really loud high pitched screeching keychain alarms. It would probably scare or discourage them without you getting hurt. The only reason I'd use MA is only when my life is in definite danger. Either that or when me and my friends are fooling around

I think you made a wise choice of playing dead
I dunno, if you live in the United States, but some states in the U.S , they have a law called "the make my day law", where you have a right to use your gun to shoot the burglar even if he dies and not get charged or anything, i dunno if it applies with your martial arts weapons though, but I would rather use a baseball bat then a martial art weapon, one swing at the head, the burglar will go down, and drop his weapon if he's carrying one, even if he's not carrying I don't think he would even try to go for the weapon, |

I have a really big dog that makes lots of noise when people come anywhere near my house at night... that and flipping some lights on will most likely scare them away. Burglaries don't work too well if you're seen. I thought someone got in my house once cause my dog was flippin' out so I grabbed my cane sword and slooowly checked things out.. Dunno what I'd actually do if I found someone though.
