Default Martial Arts in Sanxi (not Saanxi :))

So my contact person for China found me a position at the Luliang College in Shanxi province, China. The Luliang College is in the Luliang prefecture, I am uncertain what town though I think it is in a town/city (I don't know the size) called Lishi as that is the principal community of the prefecture. So has anyone visited this neck of the woods? What good martial arts tuition is available up that way? What forms of martial art are from there initialy? Etc ad nauseum.

Note: the kind folks at KungFuMagazine.com suggested Tadzio at Shanxi Xingyi as a good starting point and I am pursuing that lead but I would love to hear if anyone has any other information regarding this or other martial arts in the region.

Specifically I wll be in the city/town of Lishi it's pretty remote, about half way down the western edge of the province, nestled in the shadow of like three big-ass mountains.

You will most likely be out in the boonies, sucking coal dust, dealing with water and electricity shortages, and dealing with bureaucracies you thought only existed in bad novels.

I'm an ESL teacher. I have little experience teaching ESL. I have always been fascinated by China. China has a huge demand for ESL teachers and you don't need experience to get a job there.

You might want to look at Korea as well. Better pay and living conditions (by far!) and still pretty darn easy to get a gig.

Get a little experience under your belt, then head over to Japan. Then you'll be livin'!

If he learns a little Korean or Chinese first, then attempts to learn Japanese (later) he'll have an interesting accent when he starts speaking Japanese....

...wua-ta-xi-wa Simon san !

the Chinese/Korean accent will sound more Asian than a western one and that could be a plus (or a minus).

Regardless, Simon you've got b@lls to do what you are doing and that's what counts.

You want hot, you get yourself a bowl of fired up noodles in Chengdu on a summer's day.
