Default '86 Lei Tai match clips

Hi All,

Here is a clip showing some CMA full contact stuff from 1986.

http://www.jiayo.com/videos/86_leitai.mov

as far as i know its all traditional stuff.

with the added bonus of the comedy moment at the end!!

Thoughts.

Chris

No, its Lei Tai - meaning platform.

Good documentation of sanshou (before the addition of thaiboxing)!

lei tai was basically traditional kung fu schools going at it on a raised platform.

In the first national tournement in 1928 the event was called off because of all the crippling injuries and even a few deaths! the win was handed to Master Wan Lai Shan of Ziranmen as he had dominated the event in the main. With Xing Yi and Ba Gua schools running up.

I can make out a few styles in this clip, Ba Ji (maybe xing Yi), mantis, monkey boxing and a bunch of Shaolin derivatives and obviously Chinese wrestling.

San Shou isnt a style unto itself at this point. Just a term for free fight matches.

Maybe these TMA guys do go at it after all huh ....
