I don't know a whole lot about sanda but that it's new and a conglmoration of arts put together for kicking punching and throwing power and trained together (muy thai, judo, and one other art). The chinese government did a study on the arts to create it. This may be what your talking about it's the closest thing I've heard of.

Its definitely san shou or san-da. Of course you can write it as xan shou or xan-da too, who's gonna stop you. Its modern and its quite similar to western kickboxing. Although a lot of it is VERY different. Its quite cool with its striking and grappling.
