That's hilarious. If I was that Dim Mak Teacher, I would burn that belt, purchase some boxing & wrestling gear, and work my flabby ass into shape just in case someone wanted to beat my ass for making a fool of myself.Originally Posted by Nutz

That's along the lines of what I was thinking too. His mystic ability holds as much water as that guy who could bend spoons with his mind back in the 70's/80's. That is until he was challenged to do so on the Tonight Show (Johhny Carson), but failed miserably since Johnny wouldn't let him near the spoons until he was on stange in front of the audience because someone tipped off Johnny to his charade. Don't get me wrong, it was a good fighter for his time, but this mysticsm stuff is laughable at best. For those that wonder why I parody Dillman, I give you this gem:Originally Posted by ddrive
**Edit**Danish reader Claus Larsen tells us about one of the programs in the “Is It Real?” series on the National Geographic Channel:
In the show "Superhuman Powers" (where Gary Schwarz and John Hagelin are also spouting their crap), there's one classic excuse from a martial arts expert and "Ch’i" thrower, George Dillman. After one of his top students has – unsuccessfully – tried to knock down [Luigi] Garlaschelli with "Ch’i," Dillman offers this explanation on why it didn't work:
George Dillman
The skeptic was a totally non-believer. Plus – I don't know if I should say that on film – but if the guy had his tongue in the wrong position in the mouth, that can also nullify it. You can nullify it – you can nullify a lot of things. In fact, you can nullify it if you raise those big toes! If I say I'm going to knock you out, and you raise one toe, and push one toe down....I can't knock you out. And then, if I go to try again, you reverse it. If you keep doing this, I won't knock you out.
Gee, whiz...not much use for this "Ch’i" force, then...
So it would appear, Claus. I’d never heard this variety of alibi before, but I’m not much surprised by it. We at the JREF will intensively research tongue positions and toe movements to provide sure-fire protection for our readers against the magic of Ch’i-throwing, which I believe is closely related to bull-throwing. I suspect that almost any tongue-in-cheek maneuver will be sufficient protection. I remind USA readers to watch this show either September 22nd or 28th on the National Geographic channel.
I also found a clip of the TV show referenced in the above editorial, though that portion lacks the Dillman clip.

As someone in the last thread mentioned, I do think he might be onto something in combining joint manipulation techniques with nerve compression [to tempoarily paralyze movement in parts of the body as the muscles in these areas are effected directly by nerve energizationcan]. Whether it's effective in a real scenario is another thing entirely.

You know, I wonder what happens when his students flinch and don't see the punch coming, thus failing to know when to fall down? I can just imaging this cringing kid standing there shaking with his eyes clinched shut, but everyone in the room slackjawed & amazed that he "took the shot and was still standing". Can you imagine the twisted sense of reality people like that must be living in???

You jest, but I'm sorry to say I've known guys that ate cloves of garlic and onions before grappling to help give them an advantage. I've heard similar stories about college wrestling--nasty hygene, horrendous breath, etc., all in an attempt to get the upper hand.

must be great to study something that makes you more vulnerable![]()
fortunately for him his students werent bright enough to notice that the superior athletes at the grappling school were unaffected...
Does this mean Dim Mak is fake? Or just the kind taught by overwieght white people?
Depends on whether or not you believe it to be simple pressure points and nerve bundles or the mysterious death/energy points.Originally Posted by TheComradical

Reality (i.e. science) has a way of killing the mystical attributes of martial arts doesn't it? Sorta that same way most 10 year old have the reasoning skills to figure out there is no Santa or Easter Bunny. Unfortunately many still *want* to believe in something more, so they ignore the science and embrace the superstition. Never underestimate the human quality of faith, despite how misguided it can lead someone to be.

The dim mak attacks that rely on chi disruption are crap, strikes that affect blood flow and air flow are proven to exist, you can also disrupt the central nervous system. why would you would want strikes that worked other than immediately? assasination perhaps? Why not a poison or a knife then? those delayed strikes are more about internal injuries that were hard to detect and treat in the old days...the chi knock outs are wishful thinking and the power of suggestion IE teacher/system worship. if you dont have a vested interest in being knocked out by it you wont be.....
i use a simular technique to dim mak but mine actually fucking kils people, its called special beam cannon technique, i mastered it.

-Shaolin Warrior-
What about Gb-20 strikes? anyone ever been hit with one? or hit anyone with them? ever seen a faith healer "Heal" someone?...look at the tapes...note the points they hold, and how they "heal you"Ive done a number of "healings"
come to think of it, i have heard them mention god when they got up![]()
