alright, I am in choy li fut kung fu. That is a mix of northern and southern shaolin kung fu. The guy talking about kempo has the best idea for you it sounds like. If you learn a style.. . go to a school to get in shape. if it is a good school they should have your training set up so that you gradually condition your body for the style. Don't try this excercising at home thing until you are properly shown how to do it. All of it takes a long time in kung fu. As for style wise... they will teach you the fundamentals in most schools first. Like my school, after you get to black sash you can really pick a specific style of kung fu. crane, mantis, eagle, monkey, dragon etc. Choy li fut is good. If you want to just learn to hurt somebody take kempo.

take this number, it's in the states so you'll have to enter the country code but it's 800-332-3330. the name of the company is unique publications. ( i'm not selling anything and in no way afilliated with this company) Ask for their latest catalog, when you get it, order two books.Kung fu History, Philosophy, and Technique and Shaolin Fighting Theories and concepts. If you like what you see in these books, Investigate Shaolin Kempo. I hate to say this but I'm gonna. I'm sure that I'm gonna get slammed for this by the other thread readers but here goes. There are all kinds of home study dvds out there if you just want to learn some " parlor tricks ", but if your serious about training and the outcome being an education that no one can take away from you, seek out a reputable dojo and train.
Good Luck |
