You're not going to get very good going once a week.

i already study taiji i have done for years just by my uncle though and i want to learn more than he has to offer, i also study many other forms of martial arts, and once a week is all i have time for because i do lots of other training its hard to fit it all in,

I've got Taiji practise only once a week, but it doesn't really matter that much. Practise with the teacher gives me the stuff I study at home every day. Not all training has to happen at the gym. Of course for stuff like pushhands etc. you need a partner, but most of the stuff you learn from the form you can practise at home. And if you want to do more pair-practise just ask people from the school if somebody want's to practise outside class.

Going once a week doesn't matter. as long as you practice every day at home

well, more than once a week would still be better, but you make due with what you have.
