    Yeah there is. Everything.

Muay Thai is not an invicible martial art created for God. It's all in the man, not the art.

San Shou is your best choice if you wanna fight em in the ring.China San Shou champs faced off against Thai champs in a mixed rules bout which was basically muay thai rules plus the sweeps and throws in 2001.Thailand edged China 6-4....which is beter then any other art before it has done..espically at that level.

    yea san shou for sure.

though here is a link to wing chun being effectively used against a (somewhat crappy) muay thai fighter.

grrr well there was but it seems to be down at the moment, so i will post it later.
Tang Soo Do for those who dont know =

    60% Soo Bahk
    30% Northen Chinese
    10% Southern Chinese

TSD is both a hard and soft style, derriving hardness from Soo Bahk, and soft flowing movements from Northen Chinese systems.

edit:I cant belive i bought into this ^ lies, lies. TSD is shotokan with a Korean name and an emphasis on hip movement.

Absolutely, I would wager that the right person could use just about any legitimate syle of kung fu to succeed against fighters of any other martial art. The hard part is finding a legitimate school. Unfortunately there are a lot of frauds out there that really have no business teaching kung fu. The other thing to remember is that you have to make sure it's a martial school. Some schools only teach the forms and drills, which are a great work out but which will not teach you to fight all by themselves. However, there def. are legitimate schools out there that train with a strong emphasis on combat, you just have to look carefully.

great i think i'll do san shou then, there's this san da kickboxing gym around my area so i'm going to join it. San da and san shou are basically the same right but different names? I dont wanna do muay thai because its too common for people to use it and I wanna do something equally effective but different, i'm sure the techniques of muay thai are effective but its just seems too limited like they only have one good attacking kick which is the round kick and then they have clinching or non clinching elbow and knee techniques with punches it just seems too predictable what a muay thai guy would do
