Hi, I'm new to the whole martial arts thing and I am joining a Mixed Martial Arts class. I spoke with the instructor this morning about what styles are taught and one of the forms he told me about for the standing position was Tang Choi (sp? Could be Choy). He was talking fast and I figured since I had the name of the style, I could look it up on the net later. I did catch that he said its a type of Chinese fighting.
I was hoping that someone would have a clue about what this is and explain it to me so that I can prepare myself for it. Thanks! |

I only know a few popular methods of CMA, although there are countless styles and altered styles out there. I've never heard of a system with a name like the one you have stated.
PS: If it is a mixed martial arts place, what else are they offering? |

Well, it's a Academy of Martial Arts. They're best classes are Muay Thai but they offer an MMA class. The MMA schedule is 2 MMA classes on Tuesday and Thursday then Saturday is Grappling class.
I checked the website http://www.amiracademy.com to see if maybe they offered just that style in a class, but couldn't find anything on there that would help. |

Yes, I live in St. Pete. Tyrone area. I am 22 years old. I was into wrestling in high school and I loved learning the technique. I actually watched UFC and Pride and saw what they were doing and how important technique is and it interested me. I'm not doing this with some pipe dream to become the "Ultimate Fighter", I just want to learn something that is challenging and if it turns into something more, then so be it. I'm not in the greatest of shape right now, but I'm not obese or anything like that. I'm 5'11" and 183 lbs. With my weight dropping since I've started working out at the gym again. If you want to contact me off the forum, my e-mail address is infamous.joe.g@gmail.com. Any help is appreciated! |
