Lightbulb Northern vs. Southern

What are the main differences between such styles. I once read a great paragraph about the differences and I wonder if they are accurate or if you know any more stuff. It went like so:

The north/south is seperated by mountains. Southern people are generaly taller than southerners. Styles of the south emphisize hand strikes and in-fighting, and train with an importance on sparring. Northerners, use a lot of kicks and emphisize forms for training.

Comment/criticize/whatever.

gracias

The souths gonna rise again!! them dang northerners use all kinda dirty...oh wait wrong north south thread....oops

Hehehe anyway MAJOR generalization here yes the south tended to concentrate more on the hands and the north more so on kicking...but its really lumping to many arts in the same category when we do that.

yeah boarspear just said it for me but i have something else to add, southern styles were mainly fast hand strikes and methods, north was mainly kicking and long range attacks,

because people int he north were taller and used there reach and long legs to an advantage, the southern people were shorter and hand faster hand speed, so concerntrated more on hand strikes slaps locks etc, but yeah many styles with different methods are about, norther people used fists aswell long fists etc, southern used kicks too but differently,

peace.

I practice a southern style, and we a lot of upper body strikes, joint locks and take downs. We do throw kicks but kicking is dememphasized. From what I understand northern styles tend to focus more on longer ranged techniques ie. kicking. In the end Boar said it though; the question includes too many different styles to draw a solid conclusion.
