Do not believe them when they say that the chinese martial arts are crap.

Chinese Martial arts get a bad reputation because of their seemingly useless moves, fancy techniques, and defeats in competitions.

But there is more to the chinese martial arts than these people know.

What do you say???????????

It depends on the type of instruction and the student. If its more art than martial, yeah its not something you want to look at for self-defense.

I think this is a forum for discussing the CMAs. Obviously a lot of us practice CMAs, and a lot of people who don't practice them are interested in learning about what they have to offer. Otherwise this forum wouldn't get any traffic

One way or the other you're talking about MA that have rich historical traditions and countless advocates; they don't need us to validate them. Read over some old posts in here; there's a lot of good info in them if you ignore the haters

I agree with you. I do a Chinese Martial Art, and haven't yet seen another martial art which I think is better than it. For me it offers everything in the aspects of Self Defence, Health, Knowledge of Anatomy and physiology, etc... etc...

I don't really care if people think CMA are crap. But understand why CMA are stereotyped in this way.

Humble, I would take some members of this forum about as serious as a child throwing a temper tantrum. Some use this as a safe place where they can insult people without suffering any consequences. They know who they are. Every person I’ve ever encountered who talked big, was just insecure and a weak individual on the inside. Now there will be a few of those guys (not naming names) who are going to respond to this with insults and/or some smart @ss comment, but then I guess I’ll have proven my point. I’d also be willing to bet that some will refrain from being a jerk for the moment just so they won’t sound as pathetic as they typically do.
