The only people that gave me a hard time wre Mousid who at the time was European champion and Gerard Cordeau who compete in the first UFC ( was in the final against Gracie) And I'm not competition minded at all, I train for myself, not to compete with others People with a simular amount of traininghours have never given me any problems Now if a style can be crap and I would be better of not training at all, then what does that make me? a super talent ?( no Way jose) I don't think so BTW did you know that Fred Rooyers a former World champion is a Wado Karateka too and also made an easy switch to MT Kickboxing and Savate?

| Registered User | Sorry Hi Also started doing..... he never stopped doing WadoKarate BTW he was 1 of the members of the dutch team that became worldcampion Wuko in the 80's dutch Kickboxing pioneers didn't start because Karate was no good, they just didn't like the way it was refereed, a KO is clear and can't be denied was their saying ( another group just didn't have the control to do well in non/semi contact fights namely Chakuriki) And then they had to fight in France were they would lose even if they totaly dominated their opponent ( nationalistic refereeing) same happened in the UK In the EU people do Martial Arts for sport, because it is fun, only a minority does it just for Self Defence

![]() | Why would monks go into prize fighting? What would they gain by prize fighting? And why would Shaolin monks do some MMA type even when they are not doing MMA in the first place? |

![]() | Most of the demonstrations don't involve actually hurting someone. One of the stresses of Kung Fu is that you only hurt someone when you absolutely have to. Competing in martial arts usually involves hurting someone when you don't have to, though the presence of monks in competitive martial arts is slowly increasing because of the recent leniency of the temple. |
