Funny, you are not the first one that thought it was Karate.
Actually Sifu Lee is one of the better Wing Chun sifu from what I seen. He actually tell it the way it is and not fabricate BS. Here is a video of Sifu Lee explaning applied Wing Chun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q90-zYe77JM On the street, nobody is going to do sticky hands with you. Here is a video of him explaining Wing Chun forms: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcEBHgjVK88 And how do you defend yourself against a knife attack? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QL3p44qYJ0 |

To be honest, the wing chun kicks are always misunderstood. I would never use a wing chun kick from range. I only use stamp kicks when I have the opponent trapped (ie as a finishing move)
The kicks in wing chun are known as 'the invisible kicks' not because they are so fast, but because the opponent is too wrapped up to see them coming. If you want to kick a person from range, use Muay Thai or Tae Kwon Do or Karate. Once in close quarter where you can't use big kicks anymore, use stamp kicks or knees |
