I see these words tossed around a lot in MA conversations, but can we clear up what they all really mean?
I can recall "System" "Family" "Branch" "Style" "Form"... What would you say is the best definition for all these? |

"Family"= The way a lot of CMA's hide the secrets of their styles. Which leads back to the same problems as system and falls into the horrible world of making an MA more political than fighting. "Branch"= An offshoot of family. Or someone who decided to change something in a family system and is no longer following the same political route. "Form" is just what it says. A mold that a certain system uses to define it's MA. A lot of the "Family" type information in CMA's boils down to politics and people trying to hide what they new into a certain form. The fact of the3 matter is as Boarspear has said on these and other forum, two arms and two legs. If you look really deep into most "styles" you will see a lot of similarity because nobody has an extra arm or leg so you have only so many option on how you can move, evade, attack, and counter.

I think we have a new personality compliments of the resident troll, Matt Blake wasn't getting enough attention so he invented a new one.
![]() He used virtually every term he asked to be defined in first post, today he doesn't understand the basic terminology he used to communicate yesterday. ![]() |
