Default rodney kings style of boxing

i wanted to post this in reply to bajiquan thread that was closed. i was gonna bring up rodney king(not the black guy who got beat down by the lapd) and his style of boxing for kotf to see, which is pretty much just a self defense oriented style of boxing. its really good inmop, and i wanted to bring it up to show that boxing could be pretty versatile for self defense.

here is some of rodney kings stuff....

That's good stuff, Dick. The bottom two clips are absolutely unaltered ring-fighting tools that also work well in the street. The open hand slap clip shows another great adaptation that can work for ring athletes or in the street. Bas Rutten used open hand slaps to knock out tons of opponents, presumably in bars as well as in the Pancrase Ring. Nice finds.

videos are good, but he makes a beginners error in his footwork after he lands the combos in doing that silly jump out with his feet coming together instead of stepping out using the correct footwork, if his opponent were to come straight at him he might well fall. i know its padwork but that type of footwork has never been allowed at any boxing gym ive been to.
however other than that its good stuff

those are his old stuff, his system now is actually pretty overhauled.. i was in his trainers program but left due to personal commitments... he is an excellent instructor and very good with drills... he actually had those full discs downloadable free on his site because its out of date for what he teaches now and he couldnt justify selling them... his footwork teaching theory is excellent

We work a lot of Rodney King's stuff at St. Louis Training Circle. Rodney is with Straight Blast Gym International, in the South African gym.
