Some good stuff there Tom. Neck, groin, throat, knees - simple and direct. The guy obviously knows what he is doing, you don't get through doors like that unless you do.
Very interesting, thanks for posting. |

What's also interesting is that this instructor used traditional martial arts for combat instruction - concepts that work, nothing too fancy. He didn't teach them forms, rather got straight to combat.

The vast majority of the material I teach to the Military comes from Kali, some of the material is over 800 years old. When I say that people may think oh jesus he teaches soldiers to play with sticks and do energy drills. There is Kali for the recreational martial artist, which is what you will get in an average JKD school, and then there is the battle tested Kali that has been and continues to be used in combat.
Just like this guy here, he clearly stripped his art right down to the nitty gritty. Breaking a neck is breaking a neck, as is crushing a windpipe or taking an eye. Teach the right material to the right audience. |

Personally, I would like to learn something for combat purposes only and if it has a deep philosophical or beautiful culture behind it, I think that's a good thing.

Of course it can be funny in a dark hysterical sense. My friend Tyrone was shanked with a single puncture wound to his heart. He fell at the door of a small neighborhood grocery store. Nothing funny about that but the feeble efforts of another acquaintence to slow the bleeding... (small town eh?) Hard to fathom how much blood flows from a single tiny wound or how far it will spray out until pressure is lost... There's your ART Tom... Go KILL... ![]()
