I am looking for a serious review on Mr. Trejo's dvd series... ABC's of Kenpo. What I don't want is a personal attack. No slamming of the product or any sort. I've been seeing these going on ebay & want to know if they are worth while purchasing. This is why the title of this request say's.... Serious reviews only!

i'd like to know thoughts on the people who have purchased the dvd's.
Well I have to say it, I'm a perfectionsit and this is not good sometimes, the first 10 techs of kenpo yellow belt was not a big problem but, the 24 techs for orange belt are making me nuts. We see already all the 24 techs in the last couple weeks but I feel I have to memorice them through hundreds of reps and I have no time to do this but the time I go to kenpo class dojo (tow or three times per week).

I belive it's gona take twice the time to go from yellow to orange belt than the time it took me from white to yellow belt.
Well, I am not the average Méxican, I am a mix of italian/french with hispanic and I am tall and heavy, I'm 6 feet tall and 260 pounds and it's easy to me to do the kenpo techs on other of my classmates, however yestarday working with a Hungarian classmate who is taller than I ( I guess he is 6' 4") and well built I was having a hard time trying to defend myself so I had to aplly more force to subdue him. It was nice to see that no matter I feel strong there are stronger men on the streets and I have to use more force to cope a bigger man.

How do you subdue a bigger fellow inside dojo?

=========

Here is basic rule announced: "The issue presented is whether a defendant must use actual force to justify a jury instruction on self-defense. We answer this question 'yes.'"

And here is what the dissent said: "Consider the following example. One evening, a large man approaches a woman in a menacing manner and threatens, "I'm going to hurt you!" Worried for her life, the woman takes a gun from her purse, points it at her assailant, and says, "Stay where you are!" The assailant turns and runs."

"Assume for the sake of the example that the woman is subsequently charged with aggravated assault. While she successfully repelled her attacker with constructive force, she is not entitled to a self-defense instruction according to the majority opinion. Had she actually shot her assailant, she may very well have been entitled to that instruction under that same rationale."

So, in Kansas if you merely warn someone, rather than shoot them in self defense, then you have become the criminal....go figure.

Someting I really like about Kenpo is the low kicks to the groin/testicles area, in other MA like Karate or TKD rarely use the low kicks to this painful area of the human anatomy; I think is because to minimice injuries and because in our socity is not polite to hurt this parts.

As a boy I was taught that the men who crush the others nuts in a fight was a coward, sorry in my ciuntry is this way but the gangs, I mean a gang member uses what ever resourses he has on hand but the correct people never use the groing as a target, simple because we are not used to atack this vulnerable area, even in sport contact martial arts the groing area is a foul or a discualification of the match.

So, since I start in Kenpo I felt a little weird to kick or punch the groin area. However this groin area is ideal to disable or hurt at least an oponente before the finishing blow or blows, because once the groing is kicked the oponent lower his guard leaving us with alot of spots to kick and punch to disable our oponent.
