Martins Denis, UFC - A record of 3-1 among the light heavyweights of the UFC is a good mark, especially when the only defeat was not the result of a beat down, but due to a fault committed. Include on this record two technical knockouts and one decision over a man that was added to the UFC's 205-pound cast with a WEC championship belt around his waist, and the mark becomes even more impressive. -
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - Everything was going so well for Dustin Hazelett. The Kentucky native had finally started to break through in the UFC's welterweight division, bouncing back from a competitive loss to Josh Koscheck with two straight 'submission of the night' wins over Josh Burkman and Tamdan McCrory in 2008. A fight at UFC 96 against Ben Saunders was scheduled, and then, snap, a torn ACL in his right leg took him out of the fight in January and out of action. -
Martins Denis, UFC - Even though he possessed an unbeaten record, when Paulo Thiago showed up to fight at UFC 95 in February, many thought that he didn't belong in front of Josh Koscheck, one of the top UFC fighters. But in the first round, exactly at the 3:29 mark, Thiago pummeled Koscheck with a perfect combination - an uppercut followed by a hook - that finished the TUF alum and gave the Brazilian a win in his UFC debut, thus erasing the stigma of being a stepping stone for Koscheck. -
