I always like the old swordfighting texts. They are usually written by veterans and/or instructors of the time. Often they show a different mindset, shaped by an environment that offered lots of violence. One example was a text that showed a man disarming a knife wielder with a technique that involved grabbing the blade while barehanded.

Lightbulb a blade in the hand . . .

yes, this is seen often in the old wma manuals;

sword-grabbing was also featured in some techniques;

one classical master advised it was better to risk a pierced hand than a pierced heart;

renaissance wma's used the live hand in a manner that modern fma'ers would find familar; same with the double-weapons/mismatched weapons stuff.

gotcha. I hear Pankratium is going to be in the Olympics this time...

anyone else hear this? I heard it froma good source..

if it is, what are the rules?

if it is, what channels, what times? (i'm there, man.)
