Wrap your fist not too thick just enough to prevent the knuckles skin from peeling off too fast. Eventually they will peel though. Apply medicinal ointment. If possible make sure the surface of the tire is smooth, this will help prevent the kunckle skin from peeling too soon. I would punch 100x for each left & right, then rest for maybe a minute, shake my arms by punching thin air then go back punching the tire again. 6 - 10 repetition. Usually after training the knuckles will feel sore & a bit swelling too couple with skin peeling. We want to let this heal first before training again usually 1 week sometimes 2 weeks depending on how fast it heals. Donot overwork, start slow & always apply medicinal ointment to prevent hurt ,blood clotting & muscle spasm & to help the fist bones gets stronger too. In due time the knuckle skin, bones & muscle will hardened & your fist will be evenly straight & by that time you`ll be able to train more. As far as the wrist, start slow & do push ups as well as wrist exercises by turning them around or up & down holding on a 5 or 10 lbs weight.

Regarding tire training for arnis/kali/eskrima, check out one of the videos of Bobby Taboada's Balintawak. It has a section/demo on the subject. Cheers, Reactor |

You could try pyramid training 10 seconds hitting the tire at full speed then 10 seconds rest 20 seconds hitting then 20 rest etc.. up to 1 minute and back again.
This not only for more speed and power but also to build up stamina. |

Balintawak Volume 5
http://www.mati.com/videos.html#Taboada Essential Single Stick Skills #2 http://www.cfw2.com/product.asp?s=cf...S2&dept_id=260 Make sure the tire you're using doesn't have any of the steel belt showing. The wire will run straight into your palm when using the live hand. Be careful when striking because the tires cause some rebound. I split my lip and loosened a tooth because of this.
