Check out Universal Defense Systems. In Canarsie Brooklyn, on Ave L, and East 92-94 street right above the Canarsie Movie Theatre. Classes are Tues, Thurs evenings, 6-9pm, on Saturday 11-1pm. I didn't even know there was a stickfighting school in Brooklyn...and I'm about 10 minutes from that location.

One of the best kept secrets! Although if doesnt teach stickfighting EXCLUSIVELY it IS a BIG part of the cirriculum, and if you are so enclined you can have the opportunity to do a lot of sparring either after, or during class. there are also opportunities to participate in stickfighting/grappling tournament competition.

Are you doing modern arnis in manhattan at Villiage Martial Arts? I thought they were the only modern arnis (or version of it) in NYC?

Yes, that's the school I train...well used to train in. I still consider myself a member of the school even though I'm not actively training there anymore. My job has ended my weekday training. I used to go there 4 days a week. Not anymore... Yeah, Modern Arnis Domog(aka Village Martial Arts) is the only Modern Arnis school in NYC...at least as far as I know. Guro Pierre is an awesome instructor.

I just noticed a Filipino resturant on East 80th. Street right before you get to Flatlands Ave.
