Because of my involvement with NHB I know of the guy. There are two Tanners who Kickbox, Evan Tanner and David Tanner. This one Calls himself Dustin Etan. I saw a tape with some no rules underground fights he was in. He is a devestating striker and very Explosive knocking everyone out. I didn't know David Tanner was involved with escrima and Of All people Greg Alland. I think his tapes are amateur at best and not worth paying for. -I didn't know Alland did any cable television shows until I saw the webpage with Tanner.
How much did Greg influnce Tanner's striking abilities I wonder?

Tigerclaw, I have seen one tape on Greg Alland. Although a funny looking guy in the class of a "Charlie Callis" I thought he sounded convincing.I never heard of "Dustin Etan" but, I have heard the name David Tanner mentioned before amongst full contact fighters. I heard that he was a talented kickboxer who also trained with Joe Lewis. One the website mentioned previously... it is stated that Greg Alland did do full contact stick sparring and that he was very formidable. Can anyone else back up this claim? I have heard that he ducked for cover whenever anyone challenged him to put on the gear.

After seeing what David Tanner wrote I wonder if he may indeed be an accomplished stickman after all. Maybe we should reconsider all the controversy and talk about Greg Alland being such a phoney.

Greg Alland is a very good Stick fighter. Should you reconsider his position, No. But it is true he does have the skill, even with the knife, but his reputation is true.

I remember seeing Joe Lewis using two tree branches in a movie fight sequence once, "Force Five"? He didn't look like he was too knowledgeable with Arnis back then. I believe the movie was from around 1980.

Who is THIS David Tanner guy? I just visited to his website and am confused. If he is a proponent of full contact martial arts and stickfighting and is a champion kickboxer, Why is he defending Greg Alland? Because EVERYONE knows that Greg Alland isn't a true rep of Pekiti Tirsia and is just a vender of cheesy videos -Here is a Text copied from another forum about this which cannot be denied.

Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje, Grand Master of the Pekiti-Tirsia System has
made a video concerning the status of one P.Greg Alland of
"Sina-Tirsia-Wali" Kali-Silat.

Mr. Alland claims to be certified under Tuhon Gaje as a Master of the
Pekiti-Tirsia System. Grand Master Gaje wishes it to be known that this
is NOT the case. Mr. Alland was the school manager and a part time
student back in the late 1970's up until 1981 when he left the system.
In 1986 Grand Master Gaje formally expelled him from the system for his
acts of unethical behavior. ( It was found that at 3 of Grand Master
Gaje's seminars from 1985 that Mr. Alland had videoed; saying that he
intended to use them only for home practice as he was "not in shape" to
participate, Mr. Alland was selling in his advertisement "Fear No Man On
Earth" without Grand Master Gaje's knowledge or permission or that of
the participants).

Mr. Alland was Never certified as an instructor in Pekiti-Tirsia by
Grand Master Gaje much less a Master. I should also add that Mr. Alland
holds absolutely NO certification under Pekiti-Tirsia International, the
orginization of which Grand Master Gaje is the Chairman (please see my
"Letter to the Editor" in this months "Inside Kung-Fu").

Please be warned that P. Greg Alland has announced seminars to be held
by Grand Master Gaje of which Grand Master Gaje had no prior knowledge
and gave no permission to make such claims.

I don't know why "the real deal" is so much important for everybody's training!?!?! Does it make your training better? Does it make your more powerful? Does it make you faster? I dont believe that.

For me it's not important if Greg Alland is right, if William McGrath is right or Leo Gaje. They all are great teachers and if somebody wanna train with them, they should.

It's funny how much time the Cyber Warriors spend on forums and not at training.

That is interesting considering you have a website about Grand Master Tortal and Dekiti Tirsia Siradas. You call it the ultimate resource on Kali Silat, but that has nothing to do with Dekiti Tirsia Siradas. Most of everything that is listed on the website has to do with Greg Alland, not Grand Master Jerson Tortal.

Grand Master Jerson Tortal is no longer associated with Greg Alland’s “society”; you might want to look into that, as I am sure you want to be a truthful person.

In some aspects you maybe right (website should be updated). But tell me, who was the person who helped the Tortal family? Who invites Grandmaster Tortal to the states? Who teaches the Dekiti Tirsia Siradas system since many many years?

If there're any problems with Greg Alland, go to him and talk with him. Don't do this public, because it's your problem and not our problem. When i have some problems with my friends or my boss i don't talk to the public, too.

Sounds like Greg’s words. Yes you know half of the story, please be aware that there is a truth.

Greg does not teach Dekiti Tirsia Siradas. He teaches a blend of Pekiti Tirsia, Doce Pares and others. There is nothing wrong with learning with him, just be aware that nothing he teaches, save for maybe the first twelve, is Grand Master Tortal’s system even that is barely a scratch.

I am addressing it privately through litigation with him, but you have it listed in plain view on your forum name of the website address. I wanted to let you know that what you had on there is not the truth, anymore. I like your website, don’t get me wrong, the more that helps bring out the true art of Grand Master Tortal I am all for.

I apologize if I offended you, I hope to meet you some day and talk over a nice adult beverage.
