i was watching a television programme and there was an article on a martial art from the Philippines that revolved around stick and knife fighting, it was very fast and very popular. Does anyone know of the actual name of this martial art.
Thanks Sorry for the complete ignorance here |

it was a programme on BBC 3 (a brittish channel) called mind body and kick ass moves. . . despite the name it's a very good programme hosted by a matrial artist meeting other martial artists along the way. it's a good programme that doesn't concentrate on just fighting and looks at seperate arts in amount of depth.

ELP, I have been watching that very good series featuring Chris Crudelli, in last nights one they looked at Pekiti Tersia and Doce Pares Kali, I was particularly keen because i am currently looking seriously into doing Kali, just have to find out whats nearest and what style etc..
Crudelli teaches MAs in the Birmingham area i believe, his background is in CMAs (Kung Fu). glad to see someone else enjoyed a very good documentary |

You guys should check out www.fmadatabase.com and search in the towns/cities near you.
Esc/grima is the spanish variant of Eskrima by the way. Kali is a malaysian based name. Arnis is also spanish. Just a heads up. Good luck with your search.

Hi ELP,
If you're interested in learning Kali (plus many other arts) you can't far wrong in considering Rick Young's Academy (www.rickyoung.co.uk). You may have seen his articles in MAI each month... he's an awesome martial artist and one of a handful of full instructors under Dan Inosanto in the UK. |
