Hello everyone,
I’m wanting to learn Kali with a friend of mine but we are having a hard time finding a local instructor. Could someone suggest some places to look? I’m near Greensboro North Carolina. I also would like to ask what are opinions on learning from a book, or video? How effective can it be & what resources would you recommend if we absolutely had no other choice? Wink. |

Take up olympic fencing.........it will developes attributes that is extremely valuable in FMA.
Then incorporate what you've learnt with techniques found in videos, books and seminars....... Keep things simple, efficient and direct. With the System I teach now. I would say that 70% is based in fencing principles and concepts Raymond Floro Floro Fighting Systems www.florofighting.com |

If you can't find a school then self education is the next best thing.. But me, I would enroll in something. Shotokan, bjj, wing chun, tkd, hapkido, judo, jjj,etc,etc...........I would find something to get a Basis in and continue to cross train in Kali. If you can afford a paid instructor/dojo/dojang............then by all means get in formal training. That's my opinion.

Self-education will give you bad habits that are hard to break. Without no one to correct you, how are you going to know if you're doing the technique correctly?
Unless your self-education is going into the streets and fighting people armed and unarmed and staying alive with no serious injuries. |
