Checking hands are strong, no wasted motion, direct blows like a boxer to key body points. All to stop attacks empty hands or with weapon, this style of escrima has to be experienced, it is hard to put into words it could be agressive yet the state of mind is passive. Just sharing some of the things that go thru my head when I teach Class. The Great Grand Master was not only a Master of Escrima he was infact a Master at inflicting Great Pain. For those of you lucky to have felt the pain first hand and those of you who have experianced it 2nd hand and those that will feel it in the future. GGM Pedoy had over 144 painfull locks that when applied would make you almost jump out of your skin. Guru Inosanto once said to me that they were the most intricate locks he had seen. To me of course I remember the PAIN. When I get a chance I will post some photos. They used to call me Dan the house of pain medina But to have felt the pain first hand from the Great man himself GGM that was the true house of pain. If you felt the pain let us know.

12 locks per angle, thats more then enough arsenal, it is a style that does not strive for the commercial as much as it stress that 'escrima' is an "art"

Great post! Thanks for the info! their used to be a school that supposedly taught pedoy or derobio here in colorado springs along with "combat" hapkido, I have never met them though.

Sure... but it will have to wait till later. There was an awesome storm last night which caused the power to blip so the alarm clock didnt go off, lol. Gotta run! Some lucky kids dont event have to go to school.

braddah i am very interested in derobio. As stated before there was a school here in colorado springs that was supposedly teaching it and had considered it a few times, but they kind of fell off the radar.

It is escrima but with a different viewpoint . Defensive moves are what is the primary thing. Counters are also included in the training. This is the creed,

AN ESCRIMADOR MUST HAVE THE WISDOM AND DISCRETION
TO KNOW WHEN TO USE HIS ART.
WHEN FORCED TO USE IT HE MUST SHOW HUMANITY
AGAINST AGGRESSORS WHO CANNOT DEFEND AGAINST IT
AND THE HUMBLENESS NOT TO BOAST ABOUT THE POWER HE HOLDS
IN DOING SO HE WILL GAIN HARMONY BOTH WITH HIS ART AND HIS LIFE.
