Default Balintawak

Hi,
I might have the opportunity to do some training in Balintawak and was thinking about taking it up. People have told me its a very good single stick style for up close fighting. Can anyone share the advantages or disadvantages of the style? also what does the word balintawak translate as in English? Thanks!

Balintawak has no translation, it's a proper name for a place in Manila called Balintawak.

It's a place known for it's public market. I guess the Arnis style in question had it's HQ there.

The Art got its' name from the street name the orignal club was on in Cebu. The name of the street was named like many streets with the smae name in many cities as a way to remember a battle from WWII.

Which lineage would you have the chance to study with?

Thanks

I would check out GM Taboada if you have the chance.

If you do, please tell Manong Bobby or Robert K one of his seniors, I said Hi and wished them the best.
