Default Can Silat or Muslim arts hold their own in UFC pride or Street?

when someone else knows something too? or is it an art that is best when your opponent knows nothing?

just asking cause from what i have seen it's not on the map on a fighting stand point of view.. is it underground? used in war? break it down..

Used in war, usually with a knife or other weapon so the game changes. That's why it doesn't look like NHB.

ufc, pride, street...
the first two have very little to do with the second. nothing purely physical holds its own in the street for long imo.

Silat is a bunch of grappling arts concerned with breaking spines. Of course if you trained it hard and vs resisting people, it would do fine.

It's not the art, its how you train.

The "art" is supposed to become individualized for the artist or fighter. Even with the weapons, alot of "weapon" arts don't train realistically enough.

If a silat MAist or FMAist were given 6 months to train for a UFC or pride, I'm pretty sure they would train against other people that have fought in those types of tournaments, and that person would learn really fast in his sparring sessions with real fighters, what would work and what wouldn't.

Technique application vs technique perfection. What is more perfect than a technique that can be applied during real time?

Just my opinion.
