Hello People,
I was hoping you kind folks would help me. I'm looking to find an FMA (arnis type preferably - solo baston, doble baston, empty hand etc) school in Manila, Philippines. I have family in Manila and so it would be PERFECT to find a good school there as i'd like to take my MA studies to south east asia and get a taste of the real deal - love the culture. I looked on the net but couldn't really find anything (maybe i'm just blind It seems this board has some real dedicated escrimadors so i'm sure somebody will know of a good school in Manila (BTW, it's traditional experience i'm after, so traditional FMA would be best) Thank you! With respect, Keeper

I would suggest that you hook up with Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje or some of his people (Pekiti-Tirsia). If you are interested, PM me and I can get you contact info.
Otherwise, check the FMA Database at: www.pekiti-tirsia.org:8080/FMA/ Browse the "M" s and you'll find folks listed in Metro Manilla/Manilla. Look under "P" and you'll find others. Basically just browse around. There are a lot of listings there. Good luck, William

There are free arnis lessons held at Luneta (Rizal) Park at the walkway between the Halamanang Pilipino and the Relief Map and the Teodoro F. Valencia Circle grounds.
"Palarong Pinoy sa Luneta" is sponsored by PIGSSAI, held every Sunday from 2PM to 6PM, and you can find many different Eskrima teachers there. I would recommend looking for Master Frank Sobrino who teaches a traditional style called W.E.D.O. Combat Arnis (War Eskrimador Death Offensive). His students are there every Sunday. Good luck in your search.

Hre's the webpage of Sangil Karasak. The University of The Philippines based Lightning Scientific Kali Arnis System/Lema Scientific Kali Arnis System group.
LSAI/LESKAS is a classical/traditional system(as stated by Mark Wiley in his book-FMA-Theories and Practice). I am An LSAI/LESKAS practitioner..so i am biased in my opinion that if ever you want to see real FMA in the Phillipines, check us out and compare us with others..you will see the big difference. http://www.trinitycross.net/lsai/

Thank you everybody - much help.
Crazyjoe, the word 'martial' in FMA or just MA referres to techniques used in war. By training in these techniques, we are preparing for war (which basicly means combat, not just battlefield large-scale warfare). One who actively participates in war is a WARrior. My post was aimed at such people. Thanks again people, Keeper
