The Atkins diet is good so is the Paleolithic Diet. You can make some serious gain or losses rather. If you go on Atkins you must follow the induction phase to the letter. The good thing is that it's only 2 weeks long. Just watch those carbs.

The atkins diet, although likely the most popular because of its effectiveness in short term weight loss, is not a healthy choice. Unnecessarily putting your body into ketosis is a terrible idea, and is simply unnatural. If you investigate into low carb products you will find that they tend to be very high in fat, especially saturated fat which is the worst kind. Here is the whole truth about weight loss: decrease calories, increase exercise, hydrate thoroughly. If you interested I'll tell you what I did after an auto accident to lose weight I had gained, and I lost 80 lbs in 6 mos and did it for free and healthily.

I suppose amputation would have offered the same result if not better, but it is too costly,so not an option just plain common sense eating thats all.
