Don't think too much about it. Just start working out. If ur a beginner, almost anything will work as long as ur consistent. I can gladly give you my training routine, but I don't know how much that'll help. Ur best bet is to take up a sport, and workout for the sport, and not loose weight. I've tried losing weight all my life. But it was when I began training specifically for martial arts, that I experienced fat loss. Sport provides motivation and commitment.

eat less fatty foods, eat better foods, eat less, and workout more.

eat less/better + workout more = fat loss

A lot of people think that loosing weight is difficult, its not. You dont need to go on some outragious diet or stop eating foods you like, you just need to start being more aware of how many calories you are eating, and take it easy.

First find out what your BMR is. http://instruct1.cit.cornell.edu/courses/ns421/BMR.html

If you want to loose weight fast, all you have to do is eat 500 calories a day less than your BMR. You will loose about 5-7lbs a week like this.

One trick to help you out is to eat better foods. That way you can eat more while still limiting your calories.

Of course it's better to have well balance meals, exercise everyday, etc. But weight loss itself is that easy.

Keeping the weight off is tricky. Losing it is easy. Keeping it off requires a sound maintenance program.

yeah thats very true. Also loosing weight is not the same as having a greek-god-like body. Even "skinny" people can be overfat, and out of shape. Its' better to go the full 9 yards, eat healthy, diet, exercise, etc. But if you just want to loose a couple pounds, that's pretty easy.
