Okay, here is my dilemma: I need to be 175-180 by April 15th. I've been real good so far at losing weight, but I think that I have lost most of the "easy" weight. My friend/trainer is working with me and she mentioned that I may have to put on the plastic bags (i.e., the "Sauna Suit") to lose the other part of the weight.
Now, I know that you shouldn't use a Sauna Suit for extreme work-outs. I know you should only do things like Jumping Rope and other things. My question though, is what do you folks think of them? |

Pro: they can be effective in the short term
Con: they can cause your internal temp to spike, causing stroke. (in other words, over do it an it can kill you) this is rare but has and does happen.

I dont really know about the sauna suits. I have seen other people use them and they dont really seem to work. Plus, what happens when you stop using them? You'll probably just gain back all that water weight. Seems to me that a sauna suit is only used for losing the easy pounds, as you put it.
I dont know how much you have to lose, but you have plenty of time. Try adding swimming. Swim 1-2 miles a week, and up your jogging. Do these early in the morning so your metabolism is pumping all day long. Beleive me, you can really tone up by swimming.

The suits just dehydrate you. I wouldnt recomend it. Like you said Jump rope .Its the best weight loss tool in existence. 20 min. per day 3 times a week and you WILL lose around 10 lbs per month or more.

Thanks to all for your guidance. I'm NOT going to put on the sauna suit. I'll be fine without it.
I've been jogging six miles every other day (and sometimes, maybe just one day a week). I've been jump roping at least five days a week. When I started training in November, I was roughly 215-220. Now I'm at 188. I need to get to 175-180 by April. What I've done is changed my eating habits just a little. I have been eating only chicken, turkey, fish, veggies, fruits, cereals, and the like. I'm only going to eat meat once a day and then have veggies for my dinners. That has seemed to help so far. Thanks again for everyone's advice. I think I like boxing more than I enoyed Shaolin Goju. |
