handwraps+punching bag

Hi I just bought a punching bag+boxing gloves set and the little bit of information on it said "only use with boxing gloves" does this mean it's dangerous of hitting the bag with handwraps?

For the beginner, who doesn't always have proper technique it can be. If you know what you're doing it's not so much dangerous as there's a chance of getting cuts, etc without using gloves/wraps.
