Default Has anyone gained anything from Pavel?

Has anyone gained any of these dramatic increases in strength, speed or flexibility as advertised at DragonDoor.com ? Does it work or is it complete BULL? It kind of sounds like a sales pitch.

maybe not dramatic increase, but im pretty sure doing pistol squats and 1 hand pushups everyday does make you stronger.

I bet it would. I am going to buy Naked Warrior but it's just that it garentees all those increases.

Well, here are my 2 cts.:
I love the kettlebell stuff, gained some more snap in kicks, punches and on the ground, because its a good dynamic workout for your core muscles.
I like the book on joint flexibility, helped my hip and my shoulder.
I also liked "Power to the people", some good advice.
I am not a big fan of "Naked Warrior" too much money for too less information.

Greetings

Default Pavel is the man!!

I have been training RKC (kettlebells) since last october. I completely revamped my supplemental conditioning program to make the lion's share based around dynamic KB work such as high rep snatches, C&J's, H2H flow drills etc. lots of intense conditioning drills that mimic the time and intensity of a fight.
My strength-endurance has increased, my explosive power has increased, my speed has increased and my ability to absorb blows has improved. My overall training time has gone down allowing me more time for skills work.
Oh yeah, and it is just plain fun!
I would recommend Pavel's book and video Russian Kettlebell Challenge as well as Power Behind the Punch video by Jeff martone and Steve Baccari as well as H2H kettlebells by Martone as well. You would not be disappointed.

Have you gained any muscle mass from KB training? I'm trying to get alot bigger because I'm abou 6 foot and 135-140 pounds. Not much fat on me eather but im not like a stickman or anything. Also, has anybody bought Martial Power by Pavel?

Default Gaining Muscle

I haven't really gained much mass on this program, but that wasn't my goal either. I did put a little muscle on my back and shoulders though..probably needed it. The high rep ballistic KB drills are more geared towards speed/power/conditioning as opposed to adding size.
If your goal is hypertrophy you might be better off Pavel's Power to the People, lots of info in there and you might enjoy it.
If you are looking for improvement in performance for boxing/MA's then RKC would be a definite benefit. Faster, stronger and more stamina..hmmm?!!

I guess I'll have to get my hands on those kettlebells. What is better Power to the People or Naked Warrior? I heard NW was an improvement to Power to the People.

Default NW vs PTP

Both are very good. The thing with NW is not so much the exercises (pistols & 1-arm push-ups) it's all the information regarding resistance training and strength generating techniques. The information in NW has been very beneficial to me in my kettlebell lifting and martial arts practice.
BTW I was able to conquer the muscle-up for the first time after employing some NW strength principals.

I will post my two cents on this also.

I ONLY own Pavel's book, The Naked Warrior. I have enjoyed it, but it only covers two different exercises. I do like his concept of "Grease-the-groove" and I have used it for my pull-ups. I have improved already. I can now do seven, when before three to five gave me problems.

I wouldn't bother buying the book just for that reason. The information on field-stripping the pistol and the one-arm push-up is good.

While the information in the book is good, it is NOT worth the thirty or so dollars that it costs. My advice would be to find it on ebay.com if you can.

I've been told, in other BWE discussion forums, that a good book for the money is Ross Enamait's The Underground Guide to Warrior Fitness. I've not purchased this book yet, but I'm going to beg Mrs. Sensei buy it for me for Father's Day or something.

Anyone know what could be expected in terms of strength endurance. I've read/browsed a couple of his books and I got the impression it was all about improving max strength, especialy with his 'don't train to failure' mind set. Generating more force is always a plus, but I've yet to come across how many times you can expect to generate this force from his training approach.

ALL of Ross Enamait's books and programs are first rate, BTW. He has a penchant for cutting to the chase and delivering info that fighters need and can use. Check him out at RossBoxing.com. BTW check out my article "The Martial Art of Boxing" while you are there.
To answer your question CLM, yes a lot of Pavel's work does center on maximum strength techniques. He does state though that if you are training to fight that a combination of power calisthenics and high rep kettlebell drill are all you need. I happen to agree. There are so many different exercises that are a waste of time. I prefer to get the most "bang for the buck" and KB training happens to fit the bill...for me. I would be happy to share some of my specific routines with anyone interested.

Sure I'm interested

By the way: maximum power is the basis for power endurance and speed, so you don't do anything wrong with training your maximum also.

Greetings
