The consensus I've gathered from this forum is that Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a very effective combination.

If you did TKD, then your kicking should be okay. I would suggest taking up boxing, and for ground/submission work: Wrestling & Jiujistu (popular).

That's what I'm doing now.

TKD, if you did it right, will have given you good high level and jumping kicking.
However, kickboxing will give you the lower level kicking which has its place as well so spend a little time on it. Oh, and the knees. Odds are your TKD school didn't throw the knee.

What are your goals? Do you plan to fight in the ring or something for self-defense in a real world situation?

If you excelled at TKD then stick with something along that line. Find a good kicking martial art to become proficient in and then progress to something else. With your filipino background try kali, escrima, or silat.

my goals arent that much. i just miss being in the ring. i feel the need to get back and discipline myself and get back the other stuff that martial arts teaches you; not just the fighting aspect of it, but the other benefits such as, like i said, discipline.

What ever you decide to do, good luck to you and welcome to the forum. I've been here just a few months, but the diversity of oppinions and the vast array of knowledge and art styles is excellent here. I've learned lots.
