weight gain, bulking up.
i thought creatine just makes you retain more water.
and i heard if you take too much, you might develop a dependency, where your body wont make as much creatine on its own.
other than that, i dont know any other side effects.

water retention; when I was on it, I was as strong as an Ox, but retained a lot of water...

Creatine just makes you gain water weight and makes you LOOK stronger, doesent really do much for strength though. As soon as I got off of it, I lost 5 lbs and my lifts went up when I wasnt on it just as much as when I was on it. Take protein, dont get caught up with supplementin g too much.

Actually, scientists have done research that suggests that creatine has strength-giving properties if you workout hard. I think they found that it releases growth hormone in the same manner as if the body has been exercised intensively. Though this was found back in 2001, maybe it was disproven, I don't know. Creatine does make your muscles larger through water retention, though.

Personally, I just like Pavel's statement: "Follow your favorite contemporary program without so much as a Flintstone's vitamin worth of supplements and you'll see who knew how to train hard and who simply had access to a better pharmacy."

I believe things like protein shakes and a good multivitamin supplement are good to provide any "missing" nutrients you may need, but otherwise, good 'ole-fashioned hard training is the best thing.

Read the poem I posted below, 'Ode to the Squat," that kinda says it good too for gaining muscle mass.

What...the...hell.

No. Don't.

Supplements like creatine and protein shakes are awesome for really helping push a training program to the limits, but if you're not working out there's absolutely no point.

You won't get stronger or fitter sitting on your ass and popping magic pills.

In other words, if you want mass, working out without creatine will do far more than taking creatine without training.

The whole idea of supplements is to help you workout! If you take shakes (creatine, glutamine, protien) without working out, youll get fat. I think youre looking for steroids man. Best way to get big, eat a lot (6 meals a day) and take protien powder! Dont get caught up in supplements. Honestly, it sounds like you need to do a lot of research about weight training and nutrition. Checkout bodybuilding.com and just read a few articles.

Default Creatine

Tried it about 8 years ago.

If I didn't drink enough water with the powder, I could get slight headaches near the end of the workout.

im guessing the whole puprose of creatine is to hydrate your muscles better. if you take it before a workout and your muscles are well hydrated, you could get better performance allowing you to train longer?

Supposedly yes. Creatine is used to improve anaerobic muscle performance, so for power lifting it helps.

Still, I'd say the steps to follow are proper nutrition, supplelmenting with protein, then creatine, then steroids if you're really trying to push beyond normal limits and are willing to deal with the side effects.

In the order of benefits, the first two are probably all anybody will ever need.
