    Wearable weights

Alrighty...how good are they, what good are they...how do I get the most out of them...and if I wear them in the off time when I'm just meandering around...will it help my muscular strength and endurance...or my cardio if I'm just walking around? How about speed? (the whole shadow boxing with weights for speed and endurance deal...)

I mean, like...I weigh 145-155 lbs...would I benefit at all from walking around with 20 lb ankle weights, a 80 lb weight vest, 5 lb wrist weights and thigh weights under my clothes?

I'm going to have to ask the same question. Would it improve if I wore them 24/7, I don't want to run with weights, I mean just walking around with them when im not working out. Going to school with them, basically everything

Not sure how much benefit they actually give, but take care when you're wearing weights, especially weight vests and ankle weights. One thing most people overlook is the fact that they put a lot of extra stress on certain joints in the body.

Army packs are only around 40-50 lbs and they tire out people quick enough. You might actually be doing more harm than good by wearing all of that weight.

    Especially if you're swimming.

Some old guy saw me "fast walking" with a couple of small dumbbells im my hands once and gave me a lecture about the damage he did to his joints (primarily elbows) while doing the same thing. I've heard similar stuff from other people, but I think certain weights as you describe would add an element of resistance to your everyday activity which would eventually increase muscular strength if done the right way. What that right way would be I'm not sure but you see stuff like ankle weights in department stores all the time. Certainly worth revisiting the subject with a little research.

BTW - I saw some sci-fi movie once where this skinny little guy is hired to beat the livin' daylights outta this guy who was much bigger and stronger-looking. The little guy lived and trained in a planet with a stronger gravitational force, so the additional resistance made him much stronger than he appeared. We have the same concept in practicce nowadays with high-altitude training for increased cardio and I often go running on the beach in knee-deep water for additional resistance, which puts a noticeable challenge on my quads and cardio.

    ....uh...ok. That helps Oso.
    lol.

The ankle weights I are made of neoprene and lead shot...and with the bullshit I've dealt with in the past few days...I'm half tempted to take the neoprene as a hint and take ju-boy's advice at this point.

Or I could get drunk and watch cartoons.

Either way...I'm going to wear the ankle weights for a bit and see what happens.

yeah...I think I might join you...I just picked up a 30 pack of 3.2 beer, and I'm going to try and see how much of a dent I can put in it before I either pass out, or bloat from the Utah piss water to the point where I can't lift another can.
