Default Eating Instant Oats right out of the bag?

I've recently been put onto the oatmeal is good for you train, so I got some Quaker Oats Instant Oatmeal since I'm a college student and all. I don't like it so much (too runny for my tastes), so could I eat the package raw (which I oddly find tasty) and still gain the nutrients and health benefits that I would get otherwise?

yes of course, i mix in water with some whey sometimes.
its fine raw, if anything its more likley to retain its nutrient profile raw.

raw over cooked most likely, though i dont know for certain.

You could eat the package raw and still get the nutrients. The water is added to make it easier to swallow - keep in mind it will be extra pasty in your mouth and a bit harder to digest without the water, but it shouldn't be any less healthy for you.

I actually called Quaker Oats with that same question and they told me the nutrition is the same.

Me and some people I know used to eat them all the time. We also thought that the directions called for too much water. We just cut down on the water and eat it cold. Just take the bag and go to the nearest water fountain and put a little in it. I used to just put in enough to feel it cover the bottom of the bag a bit.

Then just use the bag to mix it up a bit and eat it like the old peanut butter tubes that used to come in MRE’s. I don’t eat the oatmeal’s any more though. Mostly I eat peanut butter right out of the jar. I don’t have to fridge it, it never seems to go bad, and I can just get a spoonful here and there when I want.

The problem that I had with the oatmeal packs was lack of self control. I love that they come in small portions and are rather tasty for a cheap food, but I went overboard. They taste soo good that I could eat bag after bag and still want more. Somehow the peanut butter fills me up more and in the end seems to cost the same.

Funny how often we all get that, "I've got to be the only one" vibe...

Have you ever tried making oat cookies.

grind a load of oats, add some milk, flour and a slight bit of butter. I also add golden syrup for flavour. mix untill it forms a slight dough.
Cut into cookie peices and flatten on a baking tray and oven cook for about 10 minutes.
